Feedback is often perceived as dangerous or even stressful. This is true for both the feedback giver and feedback receiver. Many of us exhibit the tendency to avoid feedback situations. That ain’t right! Meet Online Energizer Cees Frankruijter and his revolutionary approach to feedback. Experience how brain-friendly feedback reduces tension and makes social interaction more pleasant. Thanks to his workshop the quality of your feedback will increase. Individual and team performance shall grow to a higher level, because what you don’t know, can hurt!
What happens in our brain when we give or receive feedback?
Cees explains why someone who gives feedback experiences a risk during those feedback moments. The relationship with the other person is at stake. A disruption of your cooperation threatens. The brain looks for any excuses. When you receive feedback, your brain experiences this as dangerous to the maintenance of your self-image. All your shields are activated. In both cases, these triggered beliefs cause stress, distraction and miscommunication. As a result, the quality of feedback decreases greatly, despite all good intentions.
Brain-friendly feedback conversations
With a healthy dose theory in your pockets, Cees teaches you throughout his workshop how to have brain-friendly feedback conversations. The starting point is an equal feedback conversation, a dialogue that always begins with a sincere feedback question. This “reversal” feels good for both parties. The feedback receiver experiences a form of control over the conversation. And the feedback giver knows why and, above all, what kind of feedback is desired. Mastering a new conversation structure obviously does require some effort. That is why we are going to practice it!
Specific topics of this workshop
• What exactly is (good) feedback – based on scientific research.
• We explore why feedback feels exciting.
• You practice conducting brain-friendly feedback conversations with examples from your own practice.
