Sanne Kooiman speaks on various topics, and can be hired as a chairperson, specialized in social topics that are, let us say, ‘not always easy’. In a light-hearted, informative and interactive way, she discusses topics such as mental well-being, (young/female) entrepreneurship, gender diversity, stress and performance pressure. Sanne will inspire you to think in news about how you can (re)shape these themes in your own environment. Sometimes we don’t put enough value on the things that really matter. And as Sanne says: it is never too late for cultural change!
Orginally Sanne is a documentary maker, designer and communications professional. With her own foundation (SCHERP) she makes documentaries about social issues and mental well-being. Her credits include the documentaries To my loved ones (2016, about depression and suicide among younger people, based on her own experiences) and Stress to Impress (2017, about performance pressure and stress). Currenty she’s working on a documentary focusing on gender diversity and men’s mental well-being. Sanne researches the themes of each documentary meticulously, and therefore possesses a wide knowledge on different societal topics. It’s safe to say that Sanne has her finger on the pulse of our current times. In presentations and workshops Sanne regularly uses parts of her own documentaries for extra clarity.
Characteristic of Sanne’s work is that she knows how to present subjects that are generally considered ‘heavy’ in a lighthearted, fun and informative way. For her unique down to earth approach Sanne has been nominated for several awards, including the Young Impact Creativity Award which she received in 2018 in Ahoy Rotterdam. She also gave a TEDxTalk in English with the topic ‘Why we should all embrace the fact that we’re average’.
As a speaker, Sanne is very diverse. She regularly speaks at schools and has been a guest speaker at educational institutions such as Windesheim, Utrecht University, Hogeschool Amsterdam, Erasmus and Leiden University. She also speaks at many social organizations such as municipalities and governmental healthcare institutions. As a spokesperson for the SCHERP Foundation she can regularly be heard on radio and television, especially on current affairs regarding (mental) well-being.
